Power
an illusion
that our lives
are our own
Power
reaching for it
grasping
but our hands stay cold
Power
what we need
to make things right
that are horribly wrong
Power
our lives own us
we are only
Power-less
Powerless to change them
Powerless to fix them
only given the Power
to live them -
or take them

Reflection: Power in society is not easily earned or gained. The people who do manage to aquire this power take it for granted. This poem reflects human life in a majority of cases, it represents how it does not matter how much physical power or intellectual power you might have, but if you are not born into, or raised in an environment where power is offered, and things are given to you, you will have a much harder time aquiring any kind of diplomatic advantages. In a modern society, the people depend on a source of leadership to guide them as a country, but what follows, is as individuals, people are slaves to both laws and social norms, creating a grand situation where overall you are powerless to your surroundings.
